The Systems Installation Division has good news for those who need to wear personal fall protection equipment on the job. A recent study by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has found that the body measurements used to design fall protection are out of date. They don’t accurately represent today’s physiques or fitness levels. In addition, they don’t account for the differences between male and female bodies or the differences in stature among different races and ethnic groups. In fact, it’s believed that about 24 percent of men and 31 percent of women workers do not fit properly into the current standard harnesses.
