What's New? It has been an active autumn here at Eberl Iron Works, Inc.! We are deep into our "Lean Manufacturing" program. All of our employees have participated in the first two courses, "An Intro to Lean Manufacturing" and "5S". We have also completed VSM (Value Stream Mapping) and Pull/Kanban. Our instructors from UB have been keeping us busy! What is Lean Manufacturing? Lean is aimed at the elimination of waste in every area of production including customer relations, product design, supplier networks and factory management. Its goal is to incorporate less human effort, less inventory, less time to develop products, and less space to become highly responsive to customer demand while producing top quality products in the most efficient and economical manner possible. The grant runs through July 1, 2007. We are looking forward to the rest of the program! Visit our website to read our Press Release on Lean Manufacturing. The Traffic Safety Products Division was called into action after the "October Surprise" Storm in Buffalo, NY. We received many orders for our Portable Barricades, Plastic Channelizers, and Portable Stop Signs. This strange and unexpected early-October storm left Buffalo covered in up to 2 feet of heavy snow, leaving thousands without electric power and heat, damaging one of the city's most treasured assets, its population of majestic oaks, magnolias and maples (see photos below). Downed trees and power lines, and broken street lights required the use of our products. Visit www.trafficsafetyproducts.net to see our solutions for your traffic safety and signage needs!
